One family of icons
Every App Artisans app now has a pixel icon drawn in PXL-Makr, one of the first steps towards the studio's real identity.

In the beginning, the App Artisans apps had no icons. I knew they'd need one eventually.
Until then, the "/" became a sort of temporary identity. And in a way, it tied the App Artisans brand together.
But I've always had raw pixels in mind for the identity, because everything starts from one.
So every app got the PXL-Makr makeover. PXL-Makr is the little pixel-art icon maker I made for exactly this job, and it was the first app to get its icon from itself.
Icons on a fixed grid are challenging, and for some apps it's a struggle. /CMD-Note started as a pen, but it was too simple and unclear. We needed a unique way to represent the app, and we kept coming back to ">_", for "Command".
These icons are one of the few things done so far towards the real App Artisans brand identity. We're working on the voice and the motion too, and the apps will reflect it.
